EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 1mM Sodium Pyruvate (NaP) + 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Split confluent cultures 1:2 to 1:4 i.e. seeding at 3-5x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37C.

Derived from a 47 year old Caucasian male with an epidermoid carcinoma of the lung (grade III). The line will form epidermoid carcinomas in nude mice. Tumours also develop in steroid treated hamsters. Ultrastructure consists of numerous microvilli, prominent RER, lysosomes, lipid inclusions and no virus particles.
