Part of the Business Division of the Health Protection Agency (ECACC, Salisbury, Wiltshire)
DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Split confluent cultures 1:3 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin/EDTA; 35C; 5% CO2.
Hybrid between un-transformed mouse 3T3TK3 cells and normal rat kidney cells transformed with RSV. The hybrid cells express a non-transformed phenotype. The cells exhibit anchorage-independent growth at 35C but not at 39.5C, the non-permissive temperature and showed differences in microfilament bundle formation at both temperatures.
