Waymouth's MB 752/1 + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Split confluent cultures 1:4 to 1:10 i.e. seeding at 1-3x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37C.

Karyotype: 2n = 46, hypodiploid
Established from cervical carcinoma of 41 year old Caucasian female. Cells form stratified, epithelial colonies and retain properties of squamous cell differentiation in long term culture. They are morphologically and cytogenetically distinct from C-4 II (ECACC No. 88102701). Reported to contain human papilloma virus (Am. J. Pathol. 119:361-366). Handle as potentially Biohazardous Material.
