Derived from a 45 year old Japanese female with generalised lymphadenopathy and heptosplenomegaly (Adult T-cell Leukaemia) by co-culture of her peripheral leukocytes with male umbilical cord leukocytes. The cells carry HTLV-1 and support the growth of HIV. The cells should be handled under laboratory containment level 3 conditions.
