Part of the Business Division of the Health Protection Agency (ECACC, Salisbury, Wiltshire)
RPMI 1640 + 2mM Glutamine + 1mM Sodium Pyruvate (NaP) + 0.05mM 2-Mercaptoethanol (2ME) + 10% Fetal Bovine Serum (FBS). Maintain cultures between 100,000 to 1,000,000 cells/ml; 5% CO2; 37C. Cells grow as small clumps.

One of a series established from mononuclear cells of boar (Sus scrofa domestica L) which was injected with Shimozuma cells producing porcine retrovirus (Tsukuba-1). The cells contain retrovirus particles and are positive in RT assay.
