80-90% Medium 199 (Hank's salts) + 10-20% FBS cells are difficult to culture and grow slowly to very slowly! split confluent culture 1:5 to 1:10 about once a week using trypsin/EDTA at 37C with 5% CO2 cell harvest of about 8 x 106 cells/80 cm 2 or 1 x 107 cells/175 cm 2;
frozen with 70% medium, 20% FBS, 10% DMSO at about 2 x 106 cells/ampoule;
negative in DAPI, microbiological culture, RNA hybridization assays;
