This is the complete description of the cell line that you requested.
By selecting a generic term (e.g. SPECIES) you will go to the corresponding list of controlled terms, while by selecting a specific term you will go to the list of corresponding cell line names.
SPECIES: human
TUMOR: lymphoma, B cell
DSMZ catalog code: ACC 48
Morphology: lymphoblast-like cells growing in clumps or as single cells in suspension
Description: human B cell lymphoma established in 1996 from the diagnostic pre-treatment pleural effusion sampled shortly before death of a 49-year-old HIV+ homosexual male with primary effusion lymphoma (PEL) and previous history of Kaposi's sarcoma; autopsy revealed involvement of serous membranes without formation of solid tumor mass; cells were described to be EBV+, HHV-8+ and to carry a BCL-6 point mutation confirmed as human with IEF of AST, LDH, MDH
Viruses: ELISA: reverse transcriptase negative; PCR: EBV+, HBV-, HCV-, HHV-8+, HIV-, HTLV-I/II-
Depositor: Prof. A. Carbone, Centro di Riferimento Oncologico, Aviano, Italy
